The Sacrifice (《金刚川》), a new war film co-directed by Guan Hu, the director of this year’s blockbuster (大片) The Eight Hundred (《八佰》), hit theaters on Oct 23. Set during the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea (1950-53), the movie follows the brave Chinese soldiers of the People’s Volunteer Army. It joins a host of films and TV shows recently released to commemorate the 70th anniversary of China entering the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to help in the war to resist US aggression (侵略). Guan’s co-directors are Guo Fan and Lu Yang, best known for directing the 2019 science-fiction blockbuster The Wandering Earth (《流浪地球》). The film also features (以……为特点) a big cast of Chinese actors, including Deng Chao and Wu Jing.
