“I’m excited. It’s such a great honor for basketball players to receive the recognition from the International Basketball Federation (FIBA, 国际篮联),” Zheng Haixia told Dahe Daily. On April 1, FIBA revealed the full list of inductees (入选者) that make up the 2021 Class of the FIBA Hall of Fame. The 54-year-old Chinese women’s basketball legend became the first Chinese player to be on the list. “Zheng was blazing a trail for Chinese basketball players at a pivotal (关键的) moment in history,” WNBA noted. In a 15-year career from 1983 to 1998, Zheng competed in four Olympics, four FIBA World Championships and four Asian Games. She won an Olympic bronze medal in 1984 and an Olympic silver medal in 1992 with the Chinese team. Later, Zheng played in the WNBA for two seasons by joining the Los Angeles Sparks.
