How do we deal with climate change? Bill Gates, one of the world’s richest men, has given his answer after spending a decade investigating the issue. On April 6, Gates announced on Sina Weibo that the Chinese version of his new book, How to Avoid a Climate Disaster: The Solutions We Have and the Breakthroughs We Need, has hit stores. “Bill Gates sets out a ... plan for how the world can get to zero greenhouse gas emissions in time to avoid a climate catastrophe (灾难),” according to the book’s introduction. Mitigating (减缓) climate change will take an all-out effort like a world war, and every person can help, he told CNBC. In the book, Gates suggests that as a consumer, we could use spending power to exert (施加) influence. For example, buying and using sustainable products will help regulate our energy consumption and use of greenhouse gas-emitting fuel sources.
