A surprise win went to British actor Anthony Hopkins. On April 25, the 83-year-old won Best Actor once again at the 93rd Academy Awards for his “tour-de-force performance” in The Father (《困在时间里的父亲》), Variety noted. It made him the oldest actor to win the award. In the movie, Hopkins plays an aging man with dementia (痴呆症) who begins to doubt what is real and what is imagined while refusing caregivers that his daughter provides for him. Hopkins is probably best known for his portrayal as the murderous Hannibal Lecter in the 1991 thriller, The Silence of the Lambs (《沉默的羔羊》), which earned him his first Oscar in the same category.
