One more Chinese player has set foot on a journey to earn a place in the NBA. Guo Haowen, point guard (控球后卫) of Shanghai Sharks, has arrived in the US for a summer training camp and will participate in the 2021 NBA Draft (选秀), the club announced on Sina Weibo on May 31. In a letter posted on Sina Weibo, the 21-year-old revealed that he would sign up as an early-entry candidate (参与者) under the age of 22 to join in the competition for the Draft. This made Guo the seventh Chinese basketball player to voluntarily apply for the NBA draft after Xue Yuyang, Tang Zhengdong, Sun Yue, Yi Jianlian, Zhou Qi and Zou Yuchen. “I hope to take this opportunity to challenge myself in different games and further improve my skills. My dream is to become a better player and win glory (荣誉) for my country,” he said. The Draft will be held on July 29 in the US.
