On Jan 24, the Doomsday Clock was set at 90 seconds to midnight, the closest it’s ever been. It shows that we are living in a time of unprecedented (前所未有的) danger. This change was made largely due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict (冲突) and the higher risk of nuclear weapons (核武器). The Doomsday Clock’s time was first set up by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists in 1947. It tries to measure how close humanity is to destroying the world. The closer it is to midnight, the bigger the threat. Scientists set the clock every January.
