A car race takes place every year on the deepest lake on Earth. The 2023 Baikal Mile Ice Speed Festival took place on the frozen (结冰的) Lake Baikal from March 7 to 11. There were three ice tracks (赛道) with a length of 1,642 meters each. That’s just equal (相当于) to the greatest depth of Lake Baikal. Each team did its best to hit the highest mark on the speedometers (速度仪) of their racing cars. The ice of Baikal is a real test of the racers’ skills as well as their equipment (装备). Around 70 cars and items of racing equipment were shown at the festival as well.
