Former Taiwan leader on visit to mainland: Former Taiwan leader Ma Ying-jeou (C) holds a calligraphy reading “Fight for peace and revitalize China” during his visit to the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum in Nanjing, Jiangsu province on March 28. Ma arrived in Shanghai on March 27 to start the visit until April 7. He leads a delegation (代表团) from Taiwan. During the trip, Ma planned to worship his ancestors (祭祖) on the occasion of Tomb Sweeping Day and lead young Taiwan students to strengthen exchanges with their mainland counterparts. Ma served as the island leader between 2008 and 2016. He is the first former leader of the island to visit the mainland.
