The 2024 EDUCAUSE AI Landscape Study, issued by EDUCAUSE recently, highlights a proactive shift in higher education toward embracing artificial intelligence (AI) for enhancement purposes. Additionally, the study addresses potential risks associated with this shift. The study, based on a survey conducted in late 2023 investigating AI’s influence in the field, reveals insights into strategic planning, policy development, and the integration of AI into the educational workforce. According to the study, most institutions are actively working on AI-related strategy, with only 11% not engaged in such planning. In higher education, AI technologies are increasingly being adopted for various roles, offering valuable support in personalized student services, teaching, research, and administrative tasks. Furthermore, AI plays a crucial role in enhancing learning analytics and promoting digital literacy, demonstrating its growing integration into academic responsibilities.
