On April 2, Chinese weightlifter Li Fabin stole the show at the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Cup by clinching two gold medals and setting a new world record. The 31-year-old broke his own world record in the snatch (抓举) with 146kg and then went on to lift 166kg in the clean and jerk (挺举), resulting in a total of 312kg in the men’s 61kg category. The IWF World Cup, serving as a qualifying event for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, has seen Li inch closer to a place at the upcoming games, noted Xinhua.
