On May 6, a teenager lit up fireworks in a street in Gaza to celebrate the acceptance of a provisional ceasefire (临时停火) plan by Hamas. Hamas is a Palestinian militant group (军事组织). Its top leader Ismail Haniyeh said that Hamas had agreed to accept the ceasefire proposal to stop the conflict in Gaza. Meanwhile, an Israeli official said that Israel had received Hamas’ response (回应) to the proposal for a ceasefire and “is currently (目前) studying it”, reported Xinhua on May 7.
