The Catalogue of Life (生物物种名录) checklists can show the biodiversity in a country or region (地区). China has been making a list of its biological (生物的)  species since 2008. It is the only country in the world that brings out a list of its biological species every year. In 2023, a total of 148,674 species and sub-species (物种及种下单元) were on record.
