Due to climate change, nearly 500 million children now live in areas where the number of extremely hot days in a year has doubled compared to six decades ago, according to a new analysis by the UN. For instance, in Paraguay, children experience 71 extremely hot days annually, up from 36 days in the 1960s. In regions like West and Central Africa, the problem is made worse by a lack of cooling facilities.
