About 60 percent of the soil (土壤) in Europe is not healthy, said a report by the European Union. The biggest problem is water erosion (侵蚀). When it rains or snows, the water washes away the soil. Without enough soil, plants cannot grow well. As a result, many countries in Europe cannot make as much food for people as before. For example, this year, France has produced (生产) the least wheat (小麦) in the past 40 years.
