Ringing in a new start: A photo shows the facade (正面) of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, France, which has reopened after more than five years of reconstruction following the fire in April 2019. On Dec 7, French President Emmanuel Macron and other leaders attended the reopening ceremony. The fire nearly destroyed the historic cathedral, but donations of almost $1 billion (about 7.2 billion yuan) helped restore it. Around 250 companies and hundreds of experts contributed to the restoration. The cathedral now has a new spire (尖顶) and shiny decorations. During the ceremony, Macron thanked everyone who had contributed.
