Two women smiled at a dog called Lol in a courtroom (法庭) in France on Feb 14. Lol is the first legal assistance dog (法庭安慰犬) in Europe, starting its job in 2019. The French daily Le Monde reported that France now has 19 dogs like Lol. They were trained by experts for 18 months and can stay calm (冷静的) around strangers. Whenever the victims (受害人) get upset, the dogs nuzzle up (依偎) to them, providing comfort and a sense of safety.
