Greener airplane: A mock-up image of a new airplane developed by French plane maker Airbus was released in Toulouse, France, on March 22. While airplanes usually use fuel made from oil, this one uses hydrogen, which is cleaner and better for nature. It features an electric propeller propulsion system (螺旋桨推进系统) powered by hydrogen fuel cells, which transform the hydrogen into electricity through a chemical reaction. The only byproduct of this reaction will be water. There are 100 seats in the plane. Airbus wants it to start flying by the end of the 2030s. The plane is part of the company’s ZEROe program whose goal is to make flying more environmentally-friendly.
