Beijing sees big drop in smoking rate after 10 years
本文作者: TEENS
Ten years ago, Beijing introduced strict anti-smoking rules that banned (禁止) smoking in all indoor public places and on public transportation. This policy has effectively reduced smoking in the city. Compared to 10 years ago, the adult smoking rate in Beijing has dropped by 4.2 percent to 19.2 percent among people aged 15 and older, according to the latest data from the Beijing Municipal Health Commission. Exposure to secondhand smoke (二手烟暴露率) in indoor workplaces has also fallen to 16.7 percent – about half of what it was before the rules were introduced. However, bars and restaurants remain problem areas.
