China achieved a record-breaking grain harvest this year. In 2025, the country produced around 1.43 trillion jin (about 715 million tons) of grain, marking a 1.2 percent increase from the previous year, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). This growth was mainly because of expanded farming areas and improved crop yields. The NBS said that China’s grain planted area has increased for six years in a row, reaching over 119.4 million hectares in 2025. Meanwhile, the yield per mu (about 0.07 hectare) increased by 1.1 percent compared to the previous year.
