On Dec 20, around 4,200 swimmers dived into the cold waters of Lake Geneva for the traditional Geneva Christmas Swim. First introduced in 1934, this event was declared part of Switzerland’s intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO in 2023. This year, the 87th event saw swimmers complete a 100m race in 8.71 C water, with some wearing funny costumes such as mushrooms, turkeys and pirates.
