第二届语言学习者文学奖日前揭晓
THE Extensive Reading Foundation, a not-for-profit organization supporting reading in language education, announced the winners of the Second Annual Language Learner Literature Awards. The awards were for books published in 2004. The winning books were selected for their outstanding quality and likely enduring appeal. Lawrence; "Dead Cold" by Sue Leather; "Cold Mountain" by Charles Frazier.
Malaysia’s English-learning frenzy
马来西亚致力于推广乡村地区英语教学
"WE should not be shy to say English is a Malaysian language," Malaysian Education Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said recently while launching a new scholarship programme that provides English language resources to 290 rural and semi-urban schools. The frenzy to spread English teaching to rural Malaysia is second only to the craze for English football. Newspapers are promoting English by giving out free copies to schools and businesses are donating millions of dollars to adopt entire schools so that rural students can have an English education.
