Irish author wins fiction award
英国布克小说奖揭晓 爱尔兰作家摘得桂冠
IRISH author John Banville's novel, "The Sea" which follows a man who returns to an Irish seaside town to confront traumatic memories, won the Man Booker Prize for Fiction, according to AP. The prize is Great Britain's highest literary honour. Banville defeated what the judges called unprecedented competition from a list of six finalists including "Arthur and George" by Julian Barnes, "On Beauty" by Zadie Smith and "Never Let Me Go" by Kazuo Ishiguro.
New database lists 10,000 institutions

A NEW online database of language schools debuted with information on more than 10,000 institutions worldwide, EL Gazette reports. The Internet Course Finders database is the largest of its kind. It features language course information. People logging onto the site www.languagelearning.net can find information on locations, course types, group sizes, accommodation and activities. The database features institutions teaching 88 languages including English in 115 countries.
