1st World Congress on the Power of Language

THE First World Congress on the Power of Language will be held March 6 to 10, 2006, in Bangkok, Thailand. The theme of the conference is "Theory, Practice and Performance 2006".
The organizing committee consists of Chulalongkorn University; Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi; Stamford International University; King Mongkut's Institute of Technology North Bangkok; Suan Dusit Rajabhat University; Thammasat University; Mahidol University; Ramkamhaeng University; Thai Association of Conference Interpreters and Translators and Interpreters Association of Thailand. The sponsor is Thailand Exhibition and Convention Bureau, Royal Thai government.
Papers are invited in the following tracks: language and linguistics; language and education; language and socio-economic development and globalization; language and social change; language and quality of life; language and ethnic minority, racial/ethnic bias in language; language and politics and international relations, role of the power of language on world peace, conflicts, violence, safety and security; language and communication; computer language; language and gender, race, culture, literature and aesthetics; language and law and ethics; language and translation and interpretation, translation and interpretation in international relations, trades, world tourism and world peace; translation and interpretation in academia and careers; machine translation, localization, internationalization, and information technology.
The deadline for submission of abstracts is November 15. Submissions should be emailed with the attached abstract file to: info@poweroflanguage.org.
The conference would like to invite multidisciplinary scholars, experts, researchers, multidisciplinary professionals, academicians, educators, linguists, writers, translators, interpreters, technologists, teachers and students around the world to share knowledge, findings and experiences on the power of language.
