Chinese children stand out in UK 调查显示英国华裔学童英语成绩优于本地学生
CHILDREN of Chinese origin in the UK have outperformed every other British group in English by the age of 11, according to The Independent. They have the best results of all ethnic groups in national curriculum tests at 11 with 86 per cent reaching the required standard, compared with 80 per cent of white British children. And these figures include recent Chinese immigrants who do not have English as a first language.

REED Elsevier Group, one of the world’s leading publishers based in London, UK, is to sell Harcourt Education, which the company acquired six years ago as part of its US$ 4-5 billion acquisition of Harcourt General. Harcourt Education sells general educational materials to the state school sector around the world, including “Fast Phonics First” “Discovery World” and “Star Guided Reading”. It claimed worldwide sales of US$ 1.63 billion last year. Irish educational software publisher, Riverdeep, is considering buying Harcourt Education.
