全球语言监测机构近日公布了对英语语言影响最深远的好莱坞年度流行词汇和短语。2006年喜剧影片《波拉特》中的经典台词“击掌庆祝”名列榜首。
“HIGH Five!!! ” from “Borat” was named Top Word from Hollywood impacting the English Language (Top HollyWORDS) by the Global Language Monitor (GLM).
GLM, based in California, US, analyzes the latest trends in word usage and their impact on culture. The Top HollyWORDS were released in conjunction with the 79th Academy Awards ceremony. “Brokeback”from“Brokeback Mountain” topped the annual survey in 2005. “Brokeback” is a term describing a male homosexual.
“The annual Oscar ceremony is an appropriate time to measure the state of Global English ? and it’s all on view here: the soaring prose, the refinement ? and the vulgarity,” said Paul JJ Payack, President of GLM.
“High Five!!!”came from the surprise box office hit “Borat”. The protagonist Borat Sagdiyev, Kazakhstani television’s top media personality, travels from his home to the US to make a documentary. “High Five!!! It’s sexy time!” are his favourite expressions.
In second place was a Hollywood star trend of giving babies unusual names like Suri, the name of the daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, and Shiloh Nouvel, the daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. GLM said the trend opens an entire new world of possibilities to young parents for either inflicting or bestowing names upon their children. 21ST
