Background information
ALAA was established in 1976. It includes both national and international members and fosters practical and research-based national-level and international activities in applied linguistics. ALAA promotes the usefulness of linguistic insights into a wide range of social and individual activities, supports the public development of policy in relation to language issues, organizes an annual conference, produces the “Australian Review of Applied Linguistics ”journal, edits papers in applied linguistics, and provides scholarships for high quality student research in areas of applied linguistics
