Equestrian design competition

THE winning entries（参赛作品） of the Jumping Fence Design Competition(场地障碍栏杆设计比赛) organized by Equestrian Events (Hong Kong) of the Games of the XXIX Olympiad Company Limited（香港奥运马术有限公司）were announced on April 1, 2007. The winners in the junior, senior and professional categories （类别）were selected from over 2，000 entries. The champion in the Senior Category went to Miss Zhang Shuqi, a 22-year-old university student in Beijing. The name of her design is "Flying Horse and Startled Swallow"（飞马惊燕）. It was inspired by "Horse Stepping on a Flying Swallow", a famous sculpture （雕塑） made in the Han Dynasty some 2,000 years ago. In July 2005, the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad（北京奥组委）announced that the Olympic Games Equestrian Event（奥运马术比赛）would be held in Hong Kong, from August 9 to 20, 2008. The winning designs in the competition will be used as a source of reference in designing the fences for the Event. Olympic equestrian competition consists of Jumping（场地障碍）, Dressage（盛装舞步）, and Eventing（三项赛）.Eventing consists of Jumping, Dressage and Cross-Country（越野赛）. About 200 riders and 200 horses will compete in the Olympic Equestrian Event in 2008. |  |
