Cultural festival opens in Beijing

ON the evening of June 23, the 5th BEIJING 2008 Olympic Cultural Festival opened in International Sculpture Park（国际雕塑公园） in the Shijingshan District. The festival will last till July 15. This year’s festival is the last one prior to（之前的） the Opening Ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. It follows the theme of “One World One Dream — I participate, I contribute, and I enjoy” and integrates（将……与……结合） sports and culture. The aim of the festival is to create a harmonious（和谐的）, humanistic（人文的）, and festive（欢乐的） environment. The activities included mass sports（群众体育活动） and cultural activities, such as Olympic Cultural Squares（奥运文化广场）, films, forums, exhibitions, open-air concerts, as well as cultural activities for disabled people and the youth. |  |
