TO wait or not to wait? That is the question faced by impatient bus travelers as they wonder whether it would be quicker to walk to their destination. Recently, American mathematicians did research on the topic. Using "d" for distance, "I" for bus stop, "n" for the number of bus stops and "v" for speed, they came up with various complex equations. These equations all concluded that you should wait at the first stop no matter how frustrating it might be. In only extreme cases, where there is fewer than one bus an hour and the desired destination is very close, will the strategy fail, New Scientist magazine reports.
