Satisfaction from helping out others

AS a senior student majoring in nursing, I have been a probationer in my university hospital for more than three months. Yesterday my friend asked me if I would like to carry on with it after graduating. She was a little surprised when I said yes. Many people think that being a nurse is not a very wise choice because of the overwhelming workload. However, my experience has made me think differently. Just as my teacher told me, nurses do a valuable job in helping patients both physically and psychologically. When I was in the department of pediatrics last month, a 7-year-old girl smiled at me after I gave her an injection. I was happy for the rest of the day. I sincerely feel satisfaction when my patients recover. But then because I see so many patients, some of whom have suffered from car accidents, an unhealthy lifestyle or even cancer, I feel sad for their pain and suffering. It enables me to understand that life is precious and we need to cherish it.
