Q
I’m an active (活泼的) and happy girl. Some of my good friends like to tell me their secrets (秘密), but I’m not good at keeping them. I’m afraid this bad habit3 will end (结束) our friendships4. How can I correct (改正) it?
Debbie, age 11, Shanghai
A
When our friends tell us their secrets, this means (说明) they trust (信任) us. But if we can’t
keep them in our hearts,
we hurt5 our friends. Now
it’s time to put an end to the bad habit. Apologize (道歉)
to the friends. This is not easy, but they will forgive6 you. If you’re lucky, they will forget that it ever happened (曾经发生过). Maybe you can draw them a picture or write them a short letter. Tell them why you like them.
