WHEN did you last have a haircut? Well, most probably not in the first month of the Chinese lunar calendar (阴历). This is because Chinese people believe doing so puts a curse (诅咒) on one’s maternal uncles. For hairdressers, the big day comes on February 26 this year, the second day of the second month of the lunar calendar. The dragon is said to wake up from its winter hibernation (冬眠) on that day.
