Brinton, professor of TESOL, Soka University of America, California, US * Richard Schmidt, professor, Department of Second Language Studies, University of Hawai’i at Mānoa, US * Paul Nation, professor of applied linguistics, Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand * Yuko Goto Butler, associate professor of language and literacy, University of Pennsylvania, US * Cathie Wallace, reader in education, University of London, UK Topic areas The conference will focus on various areas of English education, with particular reference to content-based instruction in the EFL contexts. With this focus, KATE invites presentations on topic areas including: * Acquisition * Methodology * Material Development * Curriculum Development and Language Policy * Evaluation/Testing * Multimedia-Assisted Language Learning Type of presentation * Talk: a talk describes the presenter’s research results in English language teaching, which consists of a 20-minute presentation and a 10-minute question period. * Panel discussion: a panel discussion provides an opportunity for presenters to speak in a conversational setting with conference attendees, which consists of a 60-minute panel discussion and a 30-minute audience discussion. * Poster: a three-hour poster session consists of displaying diverse charts, graphs and illustrations on a specific topic accompanied by presenters’ explanation to the interested individual.
