Why not call New Zealand's islands 'Fish' and 'Chips'?

THE lovely island country of New Zealand has a lot going for it – beautiful geography, unique culture, good food. Now it just needs formal names for its two main islands. Don Grant, chairman of the New Zealand Geographic Board, recently confirmed that its two islands, known simply as North Island and South Island, do not have “official names under our legislation”. He has asked a group of officials to choose names for the islands.
