THE Message is not the kind of film where you sit there eating your popcorn happily. In the first five minutes there's a restaurant shoot-out and a torture scene involving a girl being eaten alive by a dog. This sets the tone of the thriller: it swings between violence and psychological torture, without let-up. This is not a date movie.
