IT'S been a big year for Zhang Yimou. He directed last August's amazing opening and closing ceremonies for the Beijing Olympics. Then, after directing the largest gala in the history of New China for its 60th anniversary, on October 1, the director returned to the Bird's Nest ealier this month to stage the Italian composer Giacomo Puccini's opera Turandot.
