I just can't help questioning CCTV's hiring procedures

THE new CCTV-2 hostess, Zhang Yan, made a lot of grammar mistakes during a recent interview. The public got their eyes opened by her poor oral English, in contrast to the fresh face, and strongly criticized the new hostess. The anchor woman defended herself, saying that she hadn't spoken English for five years. Aside from the fact that she's got an MBA from a UK university, I can't help questioning CCTV's talent selection procedures. Doesn't the national broadcasting organization know more clearly than anyone else that a high-quality economic program demands not only knowledge of economics but also excellent English skills? How could they pick up someone who hasn't spoken English for five years?
