Mandarin now the dominant language in US Chinatowns

THERE'S a quiet revolution taking place in the US: Mandarin is dethroning Cantonese in urban Chinese communities. Several decades ago, the southern Chinese dialect ruled US Chinatowns. But the large rise in immigrants from the mainland is making Mandarin, China's official language, the new Cantonese.
