This, more or less, is what an EU committee said last week when it awarded the classic Italian pizza the status of a “traditional specialty guaranteed” (TSG). Chefs who make the pizza in the EU must get their version approved if they want to display an official logo proclaiming that their pizza meets EU cultural standards and is an official “pizza margherita”.
