TEACHERS in the UK have been getting a few extra perks beyond the shiny red apples students have traditionally handed them on birthdays and holidays. Expensive gifts, like an Yves Saint Laurent scarf or a bottle of wine, are becoming increasingly – and uncomfortably – common, according to a new survey by the Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL).
