POLICE and education officials in Kunming have asked teachers to name “little security informants (治安小信息员)” in their classes. Head teachers in primary schools and middle schools would pick two or three students in their classes for this job. The “little security informants” would collect information on everything from the spread of cellphone pornography (手机网络淫秽传播) to bad behavior among their classmates. They would report this information to teachers. The officials say the move will help fight school violence (暴力) and keep students safe. But some people worry that it will create a bad relationship between students.
