THE oil slick currently spreading out over the Gulf of Mexico is one of the worst oil spills in history. About 210,000 gallons (793,800 liters) of crude oil is leaking into the ocean every day, and authorities are scrambling to stop it. It could take up to 90 days before they halt the flow, and the clean up could last decades.
