WHEN I was a little boy, my favorite book was the encyclopedia (百科全书). It introduced me to Thomas Edison, who brought us light at night-time and Alexander Fleming, who gave us penicillin, saving countless lives. I was deeply impressed by these scientists. I wanted to become a great scientist like them.
