Taiwan’s legislature adopted amendments to three laws on Thursday thereby allowing students from the Mainland to go to college in Taiwan. The amendments also allow for diplomas granted by mainland colleges, except medical schools, to be formally recognized. However, Mainland students are unable to apply to schools and colleges affiliated to the island’s security. They are also unable to sit exams leading to qualifications or careers in the civil service as well as the legal and medical professions.
