HUA Mulan is one of the best-known female (女性) heroes in the folklore (民间传说) of China. She has been an inspiration for screenwriters (编剧). Zhao Wei played Mulan in a film late last year, and now actress Zhang Ziyi is to make an English-language version of the Chinese legend.
