Potato protest
本文作者: Gabriella Van Leuven
CHRIS Voigt, head of the Washington State Potato Commission in Washington, US, just ended a special diet. Voigt ate only potatoes for the last two months straight. Voigt ate the potatoes in protest (抗议), as a recent government regulation prohibits (禁止) poor people from using food vouchers (券) to purchase white potatoes. Voigt enjoyed his potatoes mashed (捣成泥), smashed (打碎), diced (切成方块的), julienned (切成丝的), roasted, red, brown, and French-fried. For thanksgiving, Voigt even made his family eat a “tur-tato”, mashed potatoes shaped to look like a thanksgiving turkey – making his family “thankful” that they were still eating “meat”.
