“EXTREMELY low levels” of radioactive iodine (放射性碘) have been detected (检测) in the air in many Chinese areas, including Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin, but the materials pose no threat (不构成威胁) to public health, according to a statement issued last Thursday by China’s National Nuclear Emergency Coordination Committee.
