Speaking with a native tongue
本文作者: Ellie Buchdahl
A BRITISH girl is so eager to learn Korean that she has had her tongue (舌头) surgically (外科手术上) made longer, according to UK newspaper the Daily Mail. Rhiannon Brooksbank-Jones, 19, had difficulty producing important Korean sounds because her tongue was a little shorter than average (平均水平). The operation made her tongue about 1cm longer. Rhiannon hopes to do a four-year course in Korean Studies and Business Management at the University of Sheffield in England, which includes a year at Seoul University in the Republic of Korea. “I’d love to live and work in South Korea one day and being able to speak perfectly will really benefit me,” she said. “For me it was an important thing, because I’m a bit of a perfectionist (完美主义者), and if I can’t do it perfectly, it really irritates (使发怒) me.”
