IN 1859, British scientist Charles Darwin’s book, On the Origin of Species (物种起源), was published. It introduced the theory of evolution (进化论) to the world. Darwin got the idea to write the book when he was on the Galapagos Islands (加拉帕格斯群岛), which he visited in 1835.
