US presidential election organizers expressed guarded confidence that the vote would proceed with no major *disruptions in most areas hit by superstorm Sandy, as the election kicked off on Nov 6 US time. President Barack Obama and rival Mitt Romney are competing for the top job. US voters only cast their ballots for a slate of electors of the US Electoral College, who in turn formally elect the president and vice president on Dec 17. The Inauguration Day will fall on Jan 20, 2013.
